Happy Women’s History Month! At SVTV Network, we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout history. This year, we would like to take a moment to honor and recognize the contributions of LGBTQ+ women in film, television, and sports. We believe it is important to uplift and amplify the voices of marginalized communities and acknowledge their contributions to society.
In the world of film and television, LGBTQ+ women have been making waves for decades. From Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell to Laverne Cox and Ruby Rose, LGBTQ+ women have paved the way for representation and inclusivity on and off the screen. Their stories and experiences are important and deserve to be heard.
At SVTV Network, we are proud to feature a variety of films and documentaries that celebrate the lives and achievements of lesbian women and storytellers. Our selection includes films such as “Training Rules”, a groundbreaking sports documentary by Dee Mosbacher and Fawn Yacker that examines how a wealthy athletic department, enabled by the silence of a complacent university, allowed talented athletes, thought to be gay, to be dismissed from their college team, and “Suicide Kale”, a dark comedy film, directed by Carly Usdin and written by Brittani Nichols. The film centers on Jasmine and Penn, a lesbian couple who unexpectedly find a hidden suicide note in the home of their friends Billie and Jordan.
We also feature short films such as “Say Grace”. Say Grace is an exploration of love in some of its purest forms: faith, devotion and hope. It’s a touching tale about how who we love shapes us into the people we are and of the power and liberation of allowing ourselves to feel such love.
In addition to our selection of films and documentaries, we are proud to support and feature LGBTQ+ women in sports. From Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova to Megan Rapinoe and Brittney Griner, LGBTQ+ women have made significant contributions to the world of sports. We believe it is important to celebrate their accomplishments and to continue to support their efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable world.
At SVTV Network, we are committed to providing a platform for diverse voices and stories. We believe that representation matters and that everyone deserves to see themselves reflected on screen. We are proud to celebrate Women’s History Month and to uplift the voices of LGBTQ+ women in film, television, and sports. Join us in celebrating these incredible women and their stories.
